Do Prescription Drugs Deplete Nutrients

Do the prescriptions you take deplete your nutritional status.....the answer is almost always yes! Does your doctor inform you of this....likely no. It's important to know the cascade of dysfunction that can occur with nutritional deficiencies so they can be corrected when medication is necessary.

Anti-inflammatories such as steroids, (Prednisone, Aristocort, Medrol) and corticosteroids like Decadron may cause deficiencies in calcium, vitamin D, magnesium, zinc, vitamin C, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, Folic Acid, selenium and chromium.

The result of this can lead to osteoporosis, heart and blood pressure irregularities, tooth decay, muscle weakness, hearing loss, poor wound healing, depression, sleep disturbance, elevated blood sugar, lower immunity, birth defects and more.

I'm NOT entirely against prescription medication. There is a time and a place for it.......I am against the overprescription of medication and the lack of prevention in acute and chronic disease in the America.

Society has tought us to assume that a prescription given by a medical doctor in times of illness represents the solution for that particular health issue.

Americans are the most medicated people on the globe. Over 61% of the adult population is on a prescription pharmaceutical drug while 25% of all Americans are taking four pharma drugs; but the actual number is even higher given all the individuals on over-the-counter products.
